Located in a former PepBoys parking lot in Temple Hills, MD, Holly Place Senior is an exciting new affordable community for seniors 62+ living in Prince George County. The main challenge of the site was to merge the existing parking lot face (a suburban condition) with the new entrance face along Holly Tree Road (an urban condition). The design uses a timber "wedge" to stitch the two main edges together and create a warm recessed corner entry.
The four-story, new construction development features 72 units with a mix of one and two bedroom apartments. The community includes several amenities tailored specifically to active adults such as a fitness center, library, theater room, community room, activity patio, communal laundry lounges, and more. The building is seeking certification in accordance to Energy Star Multifamily New Construction criteria and will meet visibility standards for 100% of the units and incorporates universal design features in the units and common areas.
