​17 Mississippi is an exciting new construction housing project in South East DC. The six-story, 41-unit building will provide a mix of family-sized units, affordable, artist, and permanent supportive housing in Ward 8 made possible through the Housing Production Trust Fund, via the DHCD funding.

The design intent is to provide a hub for local artists in Ward 7 + 8, as well as safe, inspiring housing for the community. 17 Mississippi houses a 1000 sq. ft. artist studio on the ground floor, and a community room/gallery near the main entry. The facade utilizes corten steel, brick and corrugated metal for a tactile, industrial look.

​Our team is pursuing Enterprise Green Community and DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes certifications. The project includes a rooftop solar array, green roof, EPA indoor Airplus certification, Watersense plumbing fixtures, and EnergyStar rated appliances. A parking garage is found off the rear alleyway that offers electric vehicle charging stations.
