WHAT IS THE IMMERSIVE STUDIO?
immersive \ i-ˈmər-siv ,-ziv \ adjective: providing, involving, or characterized by deep absorption or immersion in something.
As architects, it is part of our professional duty to foster and train the next generation. We strive to guide our interns to become well-rounded professionals, building upon their education and travel experiences with real-world projects, site visits, and a collaborative environment. This rigorous program aims to bridge the gap between the studio education model and architectural practice by fulling immersing our young professionals in all aspects of architecture.
Throughout the term, a speculative design project is explored in a studio context. In this setting, interns collaborate and flex their design muscles under real world site constraints, client and user concerns, and receive technical critique from our full time staff. In parallel, interns gain experience in areas such as business development, construction administration, construction documentation and detailing, and schematic proposals, while supporting our staff on ongoing projects. The combination of these two tracks provides interns with a multi-faceted experience, a future portfolio piece, and learning what the profession of architecture is and can be in the future.
