THE C E N T U R Y

The Century is an exciting renovation and vertical addition of a circa 1937 Art-Deco apartment building in Washington, DC. Our team orchestrated the building survey and full upgrades to the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection system as well as the building envelope. Building upgrades also included the addition of a new penthouse level with a roof terrace and vegetated roofing. Renovations were done in a phased construction, tenant in-place approach; this required our team to secure specific approvals from DCRA, Historic Preservation, Fire Marshal's office, DDOT and the Office of Planning. Although the apartments and amenity spaces were fully renovated with a fresh and contemporary character, our team made a conscious effort to preserve some of the vintage details which makes this building unique.
